Following in the adorable footsteps of the first Earth Defense Force: World Brothers, we now have a trailer for its sequel and it’s already looking great.
Again developed by those nice people at Yuke’s, Earth Defense: World Brothers 2 looks like a raucous pixellated romp in the same vein as the first game.
A spin-off from the mainline Earth Defense Force series, the World Brothers games feature an enormous cast of playable characters as you face down a Minecraft-esque interpretation of an alien invasion featuring giant insects and other monsters.
Specifically, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 will have over 100 playable characters and over 100 missions. There will also be four-player team battles and various other in-jokes to keep fans of the series happy.
This time around a new and seemingly massive alien enemy threatens to destroy the Earth, and it seems that only the vast array of World Brothers will be able to stop it.
Yuke’s also developed the Iron Rain spin-off, which was surprisingly solid, and they have taken that expertise and rolled it into these new World Brothers games.
I enjoyed the first World Brothers game, as well as Iron Rain for that matter, and I am a longtime fan and player of the original Earth Defense Force games developed by Sandlot.
So having more Earth Defense Force games to look forward to is entirely fine by me.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 will be released next year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Switch.
