According to the IDC report, global spending on the artificial intelligence (AI) market will exceed $500 billion in 2023. I will discuss the areas of AI application, the most effective services, and what to expect from AI in the near future.
What is artificial intelligence?
According to experts, artificial intelligence is machine intelligence that imitates human behavior or thinking, and can be trained to solve specific tasks. AI models are trained on vast amounts of data and, according to developers, have the ability to make intelligent decisions, as well as imitate the unique human skill of creativity.
However, analysts believe that the full potential of AI will only be realized when it is available to everyone, and every company can benefit from it. This is facilitated by the growing number of applications and services that provide access to AI capabilities to everyone, regardless of their level of technical skills.
What are some popular AI-based services in 2023?
ChatGPT: An AI-powered chatbot that excels in automating routine tasks such as data entry, chat responses, scheduling meetings, email generation, social media analysis and more.
Jasper: A chatbot for businesses and marketers that helps generate real-time responses to common customer queries, write blog posts or website texts.
Cortana: A virtual assistant with built-in AI that can answer questions and perform a range of tasks, including organizing and managing meetings, reminders, and meetings through text or voice prompts.
Alexa: A personal assistant that can be used on various Amazon-compatible devices. It can send text messages, make phone calls and leave messages for subscribers if they don’t pick up.
ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant): A language learning app that helps to learn English as a foreign language, as well as expand vocabulary and improve pronunciation quality.
What tasks can be accomplished with AI today?
According to some reports, 37% of organizations have already implemented AI in some form, and over the past four years, the proportion of businesses using AI has grown by 270%. It is estimated that by 2025, 95% of customer interactions will involve AI. This is not surprising, as 74% of consumers prefer to use chatbots for simple inquiries, and 65% feel comfortable receiving answers without human involvement.
Artificial intelligence is already being used for a wide range of tasks, such as:
• Language Processing And Recognition: Used in chatbots and voice assistants, and based on programs that convert speech to text.
• Image And Video Recognition: Used to identify objects, people and actions in images and videos in security systems and self-driving cars.
• Data Analysis: Used to predict future events and trends in marketing, as well as personalizing user experience.
• Automation Of Accounting: Allows organizations to reduce the time it takes to process financial reporting and the number of errors in it.
• Robotics: AI-powered machines can perform tasks traditionally done by humans, such as production, assembly, etc.
• Fraud Detection: Used in banking and e-commerce.
• Healthcare: Analyzing medical data and assisting in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Supply Chain Optimization: Using machine learning algorithms, companies can increase forecasting capabilities, optimize inventory levels and reduce logistics costs.
• Video Game Development: Developers can use AI to create more realistic and complex characters.
What can we expect from AI?
According to forecasts, in the next decade, AI will surpass humans in many areas of activity: in language translation—by 2024; driving transport—by 2027; working in retail—by 2031; writing bestsellers—by 2049; and performing surgeries—by 2053. Researchers predict its overall superiority in all tasks to be around 2060.
As more data becomes available in specific fields such as finance, medicine, law, etc., I believe specialists will train ChatGPT and other AI models to specialize in various directions. This will help make them more practical and useful, giving more accurate answers to complex programming questions, improved support for developing applications for mobile devices and the Internet of Things, providing developers with more accurate forecasts on project completion times, a wider range of functions for data processing and analytics, and more.
However, it is important to remember that despite the forecasts, AI will never be able to fully replace humans, because although AI implies the ability of a computer to learn from data analysis and make decisions on its own, it is based on the information generated by humans, and ChatGPT is no exception. To use it effectively, adaptation is important.
How can you find a balance between AI and a human approach?
The emergence of ChatGPT has accelerated the development of AI technologies and the processes of integrating them into business due to its ease of use and impressive results. On the one hand, many companies, including mine, have been able to delegate routine processes to artificial intelligence. In other words, we have assigned AI tasks that do not require high qualifications and intellectual work. This has freed up employees to address more important issues.
On the other hand, the development and implementation of AI in companies has led to the emergence of new professions. For example, an AI trainer is a specialist who helps effectively train AI. It involves collaboration between humans and computer systems for training, developing and improving AI algorithms. Therefore, it is not possible to say that AI will completely replace humans in the near future.
The use of AI in various areas of life will continue to grow, and it is important to proactively ensure a balance between AI and real employees. To do this, you need to:
• Identify specific tasks where AI can be most effective, allowing employees to focus on more complex tasks.
• Train employees to interact with AI systems and take into account (but verify, as errors are possible!) their outputs when making decisions.
• Ensure that AI systems do not violate the rights and confidentiality of employees or clients by implementing control mechanisms to prevent potential problems associated with AI use.
• Encourage feedback and ideas from employees and clients to understand how AI affects their work and experience and make necessary adjustments.
• Organize training and development for employees.
• Find an approach that aligns with the goals of your company and ensures the optimal use of AI and humans.
Using this approach can make the use of AI for solving work tasks maximally effective.
