You can bring your animal friends into battle with you in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Warzone and the DMZ now—a new feature that launched along with the big Season 5 update.
These tactical pets, as they’re known, cannot be harmed but do bring an added layer of customization to the game, including pet-specific finishing moves (aka “pet executions”) like this Bark and Bite finisher:
The dog above is Merlin, the tactical pet of the new Season 5 Tier 100 Operator, Arthur. Get it? Arthur and Merlin, from the Knights of the Round Table. The Arthurian fanatic in me is quite excited by this. Merlin is also a really great name for a dog.
Arthur looks like this:
His true name is redacted, but he belongs to Shadow Company, which matters this season because players can choose between Task Force 141 or Shadow Company to unlock special seasonal rewards. He looks like an Operator straight out of Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare to me. I wonder if he’s connected to that game somehow?
Here’s what he and Merlin look like together, which I admit is kind of funny looking:
Infinity Ward should release a Camelot map. Really go full bore with this Arthurian theme.
Also added to the game are Battle Buddies. The first of these is Gwen:
Gwen’s job is to cheer you on when you’re doing well, calling out “Killstreak activations, kills – including with specific weapons or equipment – and other in-game personal events, especially when you win or perform well in a match.”
