Since 2022, Vampire: The Masquerade Nexus has offered a digital companion to the tabletop game. All the lore, rules and inspirational artwork needed to play came together in a slick package built from cross-platform utility. Just like the undead schemers in the game, the Nexus grows more powerful by the night.
Those tools expand as part of the Month of Darkness, where the many companies part of the World of Darkness share new products during the month of October. The Nexus Character Builder goes live allowing players to put together their characters online through the Nexus portal.
“World of Darkness has been home to my most compelling and memorable characters through the years,” said Adam Bradford, Chief Development Officer at Demiplane. “The game states that your characters are a powerful way to shape stories, but I’m surprised at how much they have shaped me. I’m thrilled to see fans sink their teeth into Vampire: The Masquerade with a level of digital tools support they’ve never had before.”
Demiplane’s digital tools turn devices from a potential hindrance at the table into a easy reference resource. They display rules across laptops, tablets and phones allowing for quick lookups with full text. Highlighted keywords let players pull the information they need in a few moments from nearly any book in the line.
“Demiplane’s digital tools opens up a world of possibilities for Storytellers, allowing players to spend more time enjoying their game and making Vampire: The Masquerade more approachable to wider audiences,” said Jason Carl, Brand Marketing Manager at World of Darkness. “Their Character Tools streamline the entire character creation process, enhancing the overall experience for veteran and new players. Demiplane’s platform has something for all Vampire players, whether you’re freshly Embraced or an Elder Kindred.”
One of the most useful aspects of the Nexus platform is having access to multiple rule books in the same place. Vampire: The Masquerade isn’t a mechanics heavy game, but in the few short years it’s been out these pieces have sprawled across several books. Having them in once place makes the game run smoothly and doesn’t require players to decode notes about their abilities they quickly scribbled while packing up for the night.
In addition to the Character Builder, the new Character Sheet is accessible from any device that can connect online. Players can update stats, track experience, build and roll dice pools and share their characters with Storytellers or fellow players. Players can have up to seven active builds on a free Demiplane account, with more options available for players who just love making characters.
Vampire: The Masquerade joins two other games fully supported with a character builder as part of the Demiplane Nexus program. Pathfinder Second Edition offers their most robust character creator and digital reader. Avatar Legends lets players play in multiple eras of the hit animated series.
World of Darkness fans are hopeful Demiplane will continue to expand their partnership. Hunter: The Reckoning has a note that digital creation tools are coming soon. The continued success of Demiplane Nexus should mean a Werewolf: The Apocalypse Nexus will be announced soon.
Until then, Nexus fans can explore the night with their favorite Kindred on their favorite device.
