Another Monday, another dollar. I’m finally over my cold, but I’m having lingering sinus headaches and dry mouth and various other symptoms that won’t go away or leave me alone. It’s a bit frustrating!
The other frustrating thing right now is the damnable wind. We’ve been having gusts up to 60mph, which won’t knock down your house but is still not very fun if you’re hoping to spend some time outside.
But enough complaining! Life is good. We have to stop and smell the flowers before they blow away in the friggin’ wind!

I guessed SNAIL because of today’s Strands puzzle, which often inspires my guessing game here in Wordle. What a good guess it was, too! Two green boxes and just 49 words remaining. It could have been better, sure, but it could have been much worse.
I figured my most likely second vowel would be an ‘E’ and THERE seemed like a good way to test out where that would be alongside a couple other likely consonants. Sure enough, the ‘H’ and the ‘E’ found green boxes, giving me 4 out of 5 letters in green.
Only one problem: I could now think of five words that were all nearly identical. SHAKE, SHADE, SHAVE, SHAPE and SHAME. You can’t make a word with all of these letters in it, so I tried to think of one that had at least three and came up with VAMPS (which would at least rule out SHAPE, SHAME and SHAVE). Lucky for me, the ‘V’ popped up in yellow and I had my Wordle.

How To Play Competitive Wordle
Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
