Looking for Saturday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:
It’s curious that Monday the 13th is just a normal day but if today were Friday the 13th it would be considered unlucky (and would call to mind horror movies, black cats, curses etc.)
I find it especially curious given that we all look forward to Friday a lot more than Monday. If any day of the week is unlucky, Monday ought to be it—especially given its close association with the moon.
In any case, it’s Monday and we’re very nearly halfway through May. The school year is almost over. Summer is coming!
Let’s Wordle!

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
Well I certainly got lucky today! I guessed chain because I was thinking about Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition and the THAC0 mechanic (which stands for “To Hit Amor Class 0”) and the various types of Armor Class (AC) that you can have. At first I was going to guess armor but I didn’t like the two R’s so I went with a type of armor, chain, though plate would have been a good opener as well.
Chain was as close to perfect as you can get, however, leaving me with just one possible solution: cumin for guess #2 and the Wordle! Huzzah!
Competitive Wordle Score
I get 2 points for guessing in two and 1 point for beating the Wordle Bot, who guessed in three today.
How To Play Competitive Wordle
Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “cumin” comes from the Latin “cuminum,” which was borrowed from the Greek “kyminon.” This Greek term likely stems from the earlier Semitic root, which can be traced back to the Akkadian “kamūnu.” The term has been widely borrowed across languages, indicating the spice’s ancient and widespread use in cooking and medicine across various cultures.
