Soundcore has launched its new Liberty 4 Pro earbuds today and I have had a chance to listen to a pair so this article is to bring you the news about these latest earbuds from the audio sub-brand of Anker Innovations and is also a review.
Described as Soundcore’s most elegantly designed earbuds to date, the earbuds feature the brand’s most advanced Adaptive ANC system to date, featuring six microphones for sampling and cutting unwanted sound. There’s also a barometric pressure sensor to help users shut out unwanted sounds when listening to music on a plane.
In a first for Soundcore, the charging case includes a display that shows the user’s current chosen settings that works in conjunction with a touch bar located on the front of the charging case where you can adjust the strength of the noise canceling or transparency of the audio performance.
The Liberty 4 Pro earbuds use Soundcore’s ANC 3.0 algorithm that can adapt to the user’s environment by measuring ambient sound three times per second, ensuring a strong noise reduction that adapts automatically.
The display is on the inside of the Liberty 4 Pro case can be seen through the transparent top cover of the case when closed on the Glossy Light Blue and Glossy Black models. The white colorway of the earbuds has an opaque cover, requiring user to open the case to access the screen. The traditional Bluetooth pairing button found on most wireless earbuds has been replaced by the touch bar.
The Liberty 4 Pro earbuds use Soundcore’s ACAA acoustic architecture, combining a 10.5mm woofer with a 4.6mm titanium tweeter in a coaxial design. This splits the upper and lower frequencies across two mini speakers to give a better overall sound. For the best and most accurate playback, Android users can also enable the LDAC codec for high-fidelity audio transmission giving high-resolution playback.
When used with the Soundcore smartphone app, the Liberty 4 Pro can also test your hearing and see if you’ve chosen the correct size of ear tips. It’s essential to get the correct size of tips for your ears as it makes a huge difference. The fit test works brilliantly. And once you have the right tips in place, you can run the hearing ID test which adjusts the earbuds to suit your hearing profile, even setting different levels on left and right if your ears hear differently.
As well as the regular listening function, the Liberty 4 Pro have a Spatial Audio setting that makes the music sound as if it’s being played in a concert hall. There’s even a head tracking function that alters the spatial sound if you turn your head. It’s an eerie sound in some ways. I’m a bit of a purist so didn’t use it for my listening tests, but no doubt some people will love it.
Each of the earbuds has controls for all the usual commands like volume, skip, replay and take calls. The controls are a squeezable type which is better than oversensitive touch controls that can trigger the pause function just when you don’t want to stop the music.
The sound produced by the Liberty 4 Pro is sublime. These are the best wireless earbuds Soundcore has produced to date. It’s getting hard to buy a bad pair of wireless earbuds as the technology is so good now. I listened to Stacey Kent’s album The Stacey Kent Selection. This is the kind of music the Liberty 4 Pro were made for. Lovely laid back jazz vocals. The earbuds managed to hit the perfect balance across the bass, mids and highs, especially with the opening track “Comes Love” and the rest of the album just flows along beautifully, with the Liberty 4 Pro showing just how adept they are at conveying every last nuance in the recoding.
The Liberty 4 Pro can be ready to play at a moment’s notice thanks to their burst charge function that delivers four hours of playtime from a five-minute top up. In addition, the earbuds charge twice as fast as Soundcore’s previous models.
Users can experience up to 10 hours of playtime with the ANC function turned off and 7.5 hours with ANC on. The battery charge in the earbud case can provide a total of 40 hours or 30 hours, depending on ANC use.
For individual customization, the Liberty 4 Pro earbuds are compatible with the Soundcore app, as well as the newest version of HearID to help listeners tailor the sound to suit their hearing profile. There is also an 8-band customizable EQ as well as several preset sound profiles.
Verdict: The new Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro true wireless ANC earbuds are superb. The dual driver design brings a new dimension to music, while the ANC works superbly. Battery life is excellent and the app with its Fit Test and HearID function ensures you get the best sound from these earbuds. If you want something better than a budget pair of wireless earbuds but don’t want to splash out on the very expensive brands, the Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro strikes the perfect balance. Highly recommended.
