In late September, Mark Zuckerberg took to the stage in California to introduce Orion, Meta’s first true augmented reality glasses. This release accompanies a wealth of other extended reality (XR) category technologies in a market that is seeing major leaps in innovation, from the Xreal Air to the VITURE Pro.
With some of these devices already incorporating AI technology, I think that in the foreseeable future, spatial intelligence will transform how we engage with the physical and digital world, moving beyond the limitations of 2D screens into immersive, three-dimensional environments.
As AI merges with spatial awareness, this technology is able to perceive and interact with the physical world in ways that were once the realm of science fiction. As spatial AI evolves, it promises to redefine many industries, enhance user experiences and pave the way for a future where XR technology integrates seamlessly into our everyday lives.

For decades, flat screens have dominated our interactions with technology. Smartphones, tablets and monitors have served as windows into the digital world, but they inherently restrict how we experience and engage with content.

As spatial AI continues to advance, the Tony Starks of the world may get to meet their very own Jarvis, and it won’t be through a screen.

Techniques such as simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) allow devices to create accurate digital replicas—or “digital twins”—of physical spaces. These replicas enable machines to understand their surroundings, predict movement and track the motion of objects.
3D assets play a crucial role in this ecosystem. High-fidelity datasets involving geospatial modeling, 3D imagery and point clouds ensure that digital content is accurate and feels authentic and immersive to the user.
