The former president faces 37 federal felony charges over his handling of classified documents. Trump “is a chaos machine,” Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) tells Forbes. “It’s become incredibly dangerous to the country.”
This is a historic indictment — it signifies the first time a former commander-in-chief has faced federal charges. It is also a moment the Democratic lawmaker is not taking lightly. “The idea that these documents would be so recklessly used is incredibly scary in terms of our national security,” says Landsman.
Within the same calendar year, a former sitting president has been indicted twice, with charges stemming from two completely separate incidents. What type of message about America is this sending both to our allies and the international stage as a whole? “People will decide based on how we respond as Americans… this is chaos, this is out of control, dangerous and we need to be done.”
