Destiny 2 has started up a new mini event that has you collecting food at the request of The Drifter and delivering it to his eternal crush Eris. Sounds…odd, but this ends up getting you a good amount of loot, potentially, including some old god rolls you might have missed.
But tokens are limited, so what should you actually spend them on? Here are my recommendations based on what is available:
Currencies: You have to be in somewhat dire shape if you’re spending a limited currency like this on Ascendant currencies, and I wouldn’t recommend that as they are not all that hard to come by. Exotic Ciphers are somewhat annoying to get and could be worth the spend if you’ve got everything else in the rest of the list here. Spoils of Conquest are pointless given there are a free solo chests you can get in various raids every week if you really want to.
Mementos: Blah come on. All of these are going to circle back around for various events, or if you really cared about Nightfall and Gambit ones, you would probably already have them. Plus they’re one-time use and no, just no.
Artifice Armor: This one is a bit of a paradox as yes, the artifice slot is really, really useful, but all of these have either too-low stats or not spiky-enough stats, so the armor is pretty bad. The exception here would be buying a no-stat class item which will forever be useful if you don’t have one already, and there are no number to deal with. But remember Xur also sells artifice armor sometimes if you don’t want to farm it yourself.
Weapons: A couple god rolls here or at least good rolls. For PvE, that would be the Bait and Switch Cataphract, though we have a bunch of GLs that can roll that new. Few adepts, though. I got made fun of for buying the Riptide as it’s pretty easy to get from Shaxx. I have regrets. The Horror’s Least and Igneous Hammer are pretty good Adept PvP rolls. Cloudstrike is…fine, but you need to own Beyond Light, you may find out after the fact. It also costs three full tokens. I wouldn’t bother.
As you might be able to tell, this is mainly a catch-up mechanic for players, given the gear available and the weapons given out. I would prioritize artifice class items above anything else if you don’t have them, then you can take your pick of the weapons. Avid players may just take things like the Exotic Cipher to save some time and artifice an exotic. And of course, once you spend five tokens you’ll get access to Chatterwhite, the mythical D1 shader.
